Restorative Care is a coordinated approach to care, which is integrated throughout all aspects of a resident’s care. This approach is intended to ensure that each resident is able to maintain or improve his/her functional and cognitive capacities in all aspects of daily living to the extent of his/her abilities. It is put into practice through the care planning process and is delivered through interdisciplinary programs and policies, nursing restorative services and therapy services.
Villa Colombo Toronto prides itself in providing nutritious, Italian-style home-cooked meals. It is not unusual for our residents to enjoy freshly baked bread delivered daily by a local baker, grilled French cut veal chops and/or an asparagus/mushroom risotto – all in one day. But what makes meal time special at Villa Colombo Toronto is that residents can enjoy a glass of wine with their meal (with physician approval). Special holiday meals are also provided consistent with the food traditions of the Italian culture.
We have an established food committee consisting of a dedicated group of residents who meet regularly to discuss and review the current menu. Changes to our menus are made with feedback from our Resident Food Committee.
Our Registered Dietitian assesses the nutritional needs of our residents and with our residents, families and interdisciplinary team develops the best-suited nutritional plan for each resident.
