SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Villa Charities Scholarship Program provides financial support to Undergraduate and Graduate level students who believe in and help further Villa Charities’ mission to enrich lives through experiences and services that honour Italian culture and heritage. Any person, regardless of heritage, that helps further this mission is encouraged to apply.
Deadline to apply is Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:59pm.
Villa Charities is excited to announce the winners of its fifth annual national scholarship program for post-secondary undergraduate and graduate students. The 2024 Villa Charities Scholarship Program launched in May and was open to students of any heritage who help further Villa Charities’ mission of enriching lives through experiences and services that honour Italian culture and heritage. Since introducing the scholarship program in 2020, $252,000 in scholarships has been awarded to students across Canada.

Learn More About The Villa Charities Scholarship Program
Awards of $1,500 (to be used for tuition only) will be presented to each of five (5) full-time Undergraduate Student(s) at an accredited Canadian university or college with the following criteria:
- Registered in an Undergraduate program.
- Must be entering the second, third, or fourth year of the program.
- Have a GPA of 3.5+. See Terms and Conditions for additional requirements.
- Students must be Canadian citizens or have permanent-residence status.
- Online application and supporting documentation submitted by Monday, June 30, 2025 at 11:59pm EDT deadline (late applications will not be considered).
- Demonstrates leadership qualities through various means such as volunteer community service.
- Exhibits passion in their field of study. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate special interest in Italian heritage and culture as part of their program of study, such as through a co-op, internship, and/or an applied research project.
- Written short questions on leadership experience, volunteerism and the impact it has had on your community, education/career aspirations, the impact receiving a scholarship would have. Answers should show examples and/or describe how you share values that align with Villa Charities’ mission – to enrich lives through experiences and services that honour Italian culture and heritage.

- Resume – you will be asked to include your recent employment and volunteer experiences, with an option to upload your resume in your application

Significant Dates
- Scholarships Open: Thursday, May 1, 2025: Submissions open online.
- Scholarship Deadline: Applications must be received at Villa Charities Inc. by Monday, June 30, 2025, 11:59pm EDT to be considered for the 2025 Villa Charities Undergraduate Student Scholarships and the 2025 Villa Charities Graduate Student Scholarships. Late applications will not be considered.
- July & August 2025: The Villa Charities Scholarship Awards Selection Committee will review all applications and select the award recipients.
- September 2025: Successful applicants will be notified of their award. Applicants who were not successful will be notified via email.
- September 2025: Financial awards will be disbursed to successful applicants.
Use of Awarded Funds
- Scholarship funds are to be used for tuition purposes only. The financial reward will be transferred directly to the student’s post-secondary institution.
Deferral of Scholarships
- Requests for deferrals are considered individually and are granted at the discretion of Villa Charities Inc. They are not guaranteed. A student who is granted a deferral must notify Villa Charities Inc. at the time the deferral is granted so that their scholarship will be reviewed for a deferral.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be enrolled in full-time studies at an accredited Canadian college or university and supply Proof of Enrollment. An awarded student who withdraws from their program during the academic year for which the scholarship was paid must reimburse their scholarship to Villa Charities Inc. within 30 days of withdrawing from their program.
- To be eligible for the Villa Charities Undergraduate Scholarship you must be entering into your second, third or fourth year. Those entering their first year of undergraduate studies are not eligible.
GPA Requirements
- Students must have maintained a minimum 3.5 GPA from the two (2) most recent past semesters. Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 or Spring/Summer 2025. Term transcripts must be submitted as part of the application process with a minimum combined 3.5 GPA.
Maintaining Scholarships
- Applicable to all scholarships and all years, students must remain enrolled in an 80% course load (4 units or higher for the fall term and 4 units or higher for the winter term). Students who withdraw, reduce their course load, experience a decline in grades or no longer meet other scholarship/award eligibility/requirements during the academic year for which the scholarship was paid may be required to forfeit all or part of their award. Any forfeit decision will be made by Villa Charities Inc. senior leadership in its sole discretion and will be based on the terms of the scholarship, circumstances leading to the student becoming ineligible and educational costs incurred to date.
Renewing Scholarships
- The Villa Charities Scholarship Program is a one-time award. Award recipients are not eligible to reapply for the program.
Restrictions
- Villa Charities staff and their immediate family members are not eligible for the Villa Charities Scholarship Program. Villa Charities Board Members and Villa Charities Affiliate Board Members and their immediate families are not eligible for the Villa Charities Scholarship Program.
Scholarship Values Subject to Change
- The availability and monetary value of all scholarships are subject to change.
