Staying motivated is the secret to staying in shape. At the Columbus Centre, we know it’s not always easy to drag yourself to the gym alone… so why not join a group activity? Our group fitness classes will make you feel like you’re one of the team.
Columbus Centre Group Fitness instructors are certified by one or more of the leading aerobic certification organizations. They participate in departmental training programs, outside workshops, seminars and conventions. Classes are monitored regularly to ensure safe and effective workouts.
Columbus Centre offers a variety of classes to choose from all included in your membership! Plus, our diverse class schedule makes it easy to participate on a regular basis. Group Fitness Program Registration
Members: Advance registration is required online through the Antaris Member portal, for all classes.
Members have been emailed a login and password to access online booking at columbuscentre.antaris.ca. For individuals who currently do not have a valid email address registered with the Columbus Centre Athletic Club, you can book your time slot by calling the Office at (416) 789-7011 ext. 231 or email fitness@villacharities.com.

This type of exercise uses a variety of equipment and your own body weight to stress the muscles. This non-aerobic class focuses on strength and balance, in an energetic, friendly and fun group class atmosphere. Do you want to be leaner, tone and feel stronger? Then this is the class for you.
Train like a soldier! Challenge your mind and body as you alternate between high and low intensity exercises such as drills, interval, cardio and strength training. Be prepared to sweat!
A fantastic mix of strength and cardio, using dumbbells, barbells, step, kettlebells, body weight presented in a variety of formats to challenge yourself each class. Circuit class gets you moving around the room from station to station while utilizing equipment not typically offered in other classes.
Rotate between several exercises that target different muscle groups with minimal rest intervals. It is ideal for those looking for a quick, effective, full-body workout. Typically, circuits range from 8 to 10 exercises but can vary based on the goals of the class.
This class aims to improve range of motion and flexibility. The goal of mobility training is to enhance physical performance, not just in the gym but also when it comes to regular daily tasks such as tying shoelaces, unloading groceries, and gardening.
High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) alternates between short bursts of high-intensity exercise, designed to raise your heart rate to at least 80% of its maximum, and brief recovery periods of lower-intensity activity.
Our instructors bring their unique styles and preferences to every class. You’ll experience a different workout each week, keeping things fresh and exciting. Think Tabata, Strength Circuits, Boot Camps, Yoga, BLT (Bum, Legs, and Thighs), Cardio Dance, and more – the possibilities are endless!
Regular exercise will help protect you from chronic disease, improve your mood and lower your chances of injury. The older you are, the more you have to gain from exercise. All it takes is 30 minutes a day, three days a week.
The spinning training program consists of a high-intensity, non-impact cardiovascular workout for all people, of all ages. Pedal in groups over hills, chase the pack, climb mountains, and spin your way to burning calories and strengthening your core and lower body muscles. Certified instructors with motivating music will inspire you to new levels of fitness that will improve your health and lifestyle.
Spin Hip Hop
Ready for a night out on the bike? Our Spin Hip-Hop class is a high-energy ride set to the hottest hip-hop beats—from the ’80s and ’90s to today’s hip-hop hits. 45 minutes of body-changing moves that’ll fly by.
Spin and Strength
Spin and Strength combines the benefits of aerobics and resistance training through alternating periods of spinning and weight training. Spin and Strength is a great workout for all levels of fitness.
Performance Spin
Performance Spin uses cadence, ladders and great music to improve your cardiovascular and muscular endurance, and the ability to maintain a specific cadence over a long period.
Spin-Flow
Spin-Flow is a fun, high-energy, and non-competitive spin class for participants of all ages who have some cardiovascular fitness. Spin-Flow class outcomes include improved cardiovascular fitness, understanding fluid cycling skills, creating body awareness and joy through music. The class includes 45 minutes of cycling and 15 minutes of Fascial Maneuvers. This innovative movement practice is dedicated to unwinding stuck fascia, the connective tissue web that envelopes our bodies. Through this practice, participants unlock greater mobility, strength and the overall sense of well-being.
Gentle Spin
Gentle Spin is a 30-minute class for people who have never participated in a stationary cycle class before. This class will teach you the basic skills and techniques needed to advance your stationary cycling experience.
This step class is geared towards novice participants with some step experience. It has simple choreography with fun dance moves to keep the participants motivated throughout the class. Once the step component is completed, you will start the strengthening part of your workout. Using dumbbells, bands and other equipment, you will strengthen and sculpt all muscle groups.
Strength and Stretch consists of a 40-minute workout using weights, body weight, resistance equipment and functional training, followed by a slow 20-minute strength session to lengthen and revitalize your entire body. This 60-minute workout will leave you feeling strong and elongated.
With 60 minutes of strength training, full body and comprehensive exercises, this class is designed to challenge the muscles, while increasing strength and mobility. Learn the fundamentals of movement and be ready for a challenge.
This 60-minute class begins with the instructor choosing a different training routine, such as cardio, legs, core and abs, or upper body training. Each class ends with a 20-to-30-minute stretch.
Total Body Challenge targets all major muscle groups of the body. Each circuit includes three to four exercises that alternate between upper body and lower body as well as bilateral and unilateral for a unique, quick-paced workout. This workout is best for experienced participants who are comfortable using a variety of fitness equipment, however, the instructor will provide alternative exercises for the novice participant.
